Slick looking cars on the front art of the game
It’s OLD oldschool!
My folks were married 19 years in 78.
The Rockford Files kicks ass!
My folks were already married for 2 years in 78.
My dad was I think just getting into High School, and my mother was somewhere in Junior High and neither o my parents were even in the same country at the time.
Although it wouldn’t been for me I don’t think either of my parents were concerned about getting this game in 77′, or 78′.
I would’ve been though.
I guess they were just busy doing other 70’s stuff.
Like watching Rockford Files.
slot cars are a legendary cars
lol thats what i mean ^^ yes i know one who had the same problem with his ps2 drive. its no good quality compared to my snes for example ^^ it works perfectly fine since 1992
ya i have a xbox and i had to take the whole thing apart cuz the ports wouldnt work
and my orginal ps2’s disk drive doesnt work
WOW 1978! O_o the atari 2600 must have one of the longest lifespans of all consoles ever. i mean now a days a console lasts maybe 5 years if you are lucky
who drove the yellow car?
Wow, so old, but it looks kinda fun. And yes, I remember Slot Cars. Back when I was a kid, I had 2. One was called Disaster City and involved these awesome looking oversized Mad Max style Taxi Cabs around this big destroyed city and this big building in the middle. First to get 12 laps opens the way to crash into the building and win the race. The other was, to me, the best of the two. The Haunted Highway. I don’t need to say anything, just search for the “Haunted Highway slot car track” on YT.
Yeah, but it causes flicker when they cross horizontally, or whatever. Depends on how you program it.
you can display 10 sprites by flashing 1 sprite in defferent positions in the game loop…..
I don’t understand how the driving works in this game…
actually, showing two sprites is pretty easy,if you knew about atari programming.
It’s one of those cars from drag racing – you know with the big rear tires, and the supernarrow body.
Prior to Space Invaders (1980), Atari games were really crappy. And nobody cared because it was the 70s and people had bad taste back then (i.e. disco). They were just amazed to see controllable “things” on their woodgrain televisions. “Wow… my square moves and I control it.” “Yeah totally radical.”
Anyway this game has the amazing ability to display two sprites! i.e Your car and the other guy’s car. Amazing.
I’m 34, this brings back a lot of memories. I never owned it, but they could have called this game anything if you think about it. Cool stuff. Thanks….
Great review! And another game I was inspired to buy.
well dont start me on that,, but yeh,, phillip islsnd is a well known race track here in australia, popular mostly for the moterbikes. But yeh,, cant aggree with you enough on the CDI, i lived next door to a poor sod who had one.. WAs AWFUL!!. Go sega and Atari when it comes to retro consoles…imo
yea, philips was awesome, until they released a monster with 3 letters and a dash. C. D. -. I
remember those slot car trax that had magnets so ur car could do loop de loop..they were cool.. but i liked my phillip island scalectrix track best..
Yeah the cover art is amazing and then what the hell is up with the graphics? haha drinking beer and playing Slot Racers and Guitar Hero, what a contrast
Sounds like a good party.
Yep, I had they tyco slotcar tracks and loved it!
